Our room is very cute. It's small, but charming.

As soon as we got settled in, we left again to seek out Yank Sing Dim Sum restaurant. I had read many great online reviews and it was supposed to be a short walk from our hotel. Unfortunately, the gps function on my phone was not working very well and we got turned around several times. It took us 3 tries walking along the street, first in one direction and then right back the other way before we finally got ourselves headed correctly. After we quit relying on the gps, we had better luck and were able to get ourselves to the restaurant.
It was very busy but we were seated after a 15 minute wait. I had really wanted to try Dim Sum in San Francisco and didn't know if we would fly into the city early enough to eat lunch there, so I was very happy when we actually got to sit down. In fact the last couple of weeks have been so sad and rushed, I don't think I actually felt excited about being on vacation until we were finally sitting down for lunch. And what a nice lunch it turned out to be!
Our first dish was pork dumplings. They were amazing. The skins were thin and the pork inside was very juicy and tender. Wow!

This is another picture of the dumpling as it is supposed to be served with a delicious vinegar and ginger sauce.

Next up was a plate of some of the best pot stickers we have ever had. Again, the skins were thin and the bottoms were nice and crispy. One of the best things about these pot stickers were how full the won-ton skins were. The pork totally filled and stuck inside the wrapper. Often when I eat a pot-sticker, the inside slides right out after the first bite, but these stayed together. The were served without sauce.

The dumplings with the orange dots were seafood and they were just mediocre. I wasn't crazy about the texture of the filling and the flavor was muddled. The dumplings in front were shrimp and were excellent. The dumpling was filled with huge chunks of actual shrimp.

We also had some spare ribs which were average. I have eaten better flavored ones, but these were acceptable.

Last we had dessert. In the front are egg tarts. They were good, but I have had better. I thought they had an overly fake butter flavor, almost as if they had been made with butter flavored Crisco.

In the background were sesame balls filled with what I think was some sort of bean paste. They were surprisingly good and we only got them because the people at the table next to us recommended them to us when the dessert came around.

After Dim Sum (which was about twice the cost of the same meal at our hometown Dim Sum restaurant) we decided to visit the San Francisco Museum of Fine Art. We had seen the museum on the taxi ride to our hotel and thought it would be a lot of fun. We were very lucky that they had a special "Stein Collection" exhibit that was full of works by Picasso, Matisse and Cézanne. What a treat!

I wish I had more pictures for you, but my phone was running out of batteries. I had to turn it off to conserve the power so we could find our way back to the hotel later.
We found a wonderful toy store on the way home that had tons of board games. We are huge game players so we were excited to find a such a broad selection of games. We even ran into a woman about my age who also loved board games and was trying to find games to play with her co-workers at lunch. We chatted for almost 20 minutes about our favorites and gave each other recommendations. We were also thrilled to find a copy of the card game San Juan. We had read that it was a particularly great game for 2 players and are looking forward to playing it on the cruise.

By the time we made it back to our hotel, it was getting late. Also I had forgotten about the time change and had not brought my medication (that keeps me from getting dehydrated) when we went out. I was hours late taking it and so thirsty by the time we got back to the room, I could think of nothing but a glass of ice water. Ross kindly said he would run out to fill the ice bucket. When he picked it up, he discovered it was already full of ice. I briefly thought it had been left by the previous occupants of the room, but Ross was quick to explain that since ice _melts_, that was not possible. The maid had just filled it when she turned down our bed. How pleasant! Obviously this hotel is a bit nicer than the places we usually stay. Lol.
We were very hungry by this point decided to go to Akiko's, a sushi restaurant near our hotel. It was great. The salmon was some of the best we have ever had. My only complaint was that the spicy tuna roll was too hot for me to eat. It was not too hot for Ross however, and he was happy to be able to eat all the rest of the pieces by himself.

Tomorrow we get to board our cruise ship!
(This post keeps getting more detailed because I woke up early due to the time change and have been adding thoughts to it while Ross sleeps.)
